Freefold is a collection of communities, called Folds, that you can join and participate in. Each Fold has its own purpose, rules, and culture. Before joining a conversation, it can be helpful to read the Fold’s rules and spend a little time exploring its posts to understand what the community is like.

A Fold works somewhat like a message board. Someone creates a post to begin a discussion, and others can respond with comments and continue the conversation through replies.

Valuable contributions can receive Helpful and Thoughtful reactions. Use Helpful when something provides useful information, advice, or a clear answer. Use Thoughtful when it encourages reflection, adds nuance, or offers an interesting perspective.

Freefold

Freefold is available exclusively on Freenet

Freefold does not run on the conventional web or on centralized company servers. It is available only through Freenet.

Freenet is a decentralized peer-to-peer network. Instead of connecting to one central server, people run Freenet peers on their own computers and collectively help store, retrieve, and distribute applications and their data. Freenet applications still open in an ordinary web browser, but they communicate with the network through the Freenet client running on your computer.

Only on Freenet

To access Freefold:

  1. Download and install the Freenet client for Windows, macOS, or Linux.

  2. Start Freenet and allow it a little time to connect to the network.

  3. With Freenet running, paste the following address into your browser:

Open Freefold on Freenet

http://localhost:7509/v1/contract/web/3r7gQq3qsrtbCuD9R3BQ8HxDvYh6rjYzH5siCdgQMJs7/

This address connects your browser to your own local Freenet peer, which then retrieves and opens Freefold from the peer-to-peer network.Write your text here...
